Lenovo's Y series is pretty good for that kinda stuff. i'd recommend the models that use at least an intel i5 processor. If you don't plan to move around i'd recommend a desktop (one you can build yourself) as you can build an amazing one for $800 and you'd get wayyyyyyyyyy more power than an laptop. If you are trying to stay mobile tho laptops are pretty much the only option. The one i'd recommend is the Lenovo Legion Y520 packs a punch and goes for around $779.99 on lenovo's website. You might even find a better deal else where. Good luck with your shopping!
Been thinking about getting one myself. I'd like to lay around and be lazy while editing stuff. Also I need a portable computer to show what my Canon is seeing. Go Alienware. They're cheap. Right?
Lenovo is a good choice as mentioned above. I'd also recommend you check out Asus too. They are great value for money, have good battery life and good support.
I don't use laptops anymore except for my MacBook Pro. I had a Compaq a few years ago that played everything. the only thing i did to it was get someone to replace a few components for cheap. I can't remember the exact model but I'll edit this if i can find it again.
