Allowed or Not?

Hi all, apologies if I am asking something that has already been asked/answered. I have been considering starting lets play/gaming vlogs for pokemon fire red, Italian Job for windows xp and maybe some other games, I am a total n00b with technology so rather than using a fancy screen recording program I would be filming the screen with a DSLR manually focused to bring out the best I could. Thinking about game copyright, would I be allowed to monetise these videos or would doing so be in breach of copyright? Any help would be much appreciated :D

1) I'd use a screen recorder, if I'm honest.

2) Yes it would breach copyright, no you wouldn't able monetize unless you were with a gaming network.

Use proper recording software, not a potato. Even if you set it up the best that you can possibly set it up it won't look as good as Fraps of DXTory would. Seriously.

Have fun monetizing anything Nintendo ;)

You don't need to be tech savvy to set up FRAPS, just start it up, and make sure you set the record resolution to your screen resolution :)

No your wrong again. Stop giving people false information.

To the person who is concerned BobbyKryptonite check the video policy for such a game and see whether they will allow you to monetize it or not. Pokemon you will probably have issues with though as they have started claiming people's videos.

You can upload and monetize if you are operating under fair use:
Nintendo don't seem to believe in Fair Use/Fair Dealings (for UK residents) atm, they're claiming the hell out of everything and anything they can. The only "safe" thing you can do is livestream them and I'm sure they'll work their way round to that eventually.

Thanks for the info guys, I may well do the videos and not bother monetising, I do videos for the enjoyment and to get my thoughts out there, getting paid is just a bonus :) The computer I use for gaming is a 2001 compaq laptop with no internet access or antivirus to getting any such program would prove difficult. Last year on my vlogging channel I used my DSLR in manual focus to record the screen of my gameboy advance SP and when properly focused it loked quite alright :)

Well for screen recording I personally use Camtasia, I mean it does the job but the quality can be a little bit better. And for monetizing games some companies are against it like Nintendo they started claiming videos on Youtube. But if you're worried about getting copyrighted just search up the companies website and read their policy or email them if you have any concerns.

Thanks for the advice, I filmed the first one where I get my mr mime to hit level 100, I did it with the dslr and it turned out well if a tad shaky. But I'm pleased with it. By the way how else would I record the screen of a GBA SP?
