So 5 months ago I decided to shut down my old gaming channel and follow a passion for art and the macabre, I decided to set up a channel that focuses on Serial Killers, Cults and Atrocities, but instead of using constant stock imagery I thought about using my own art work to tell a story, Each video takes me about a month but I haven't had a channel grow so fast, the viewers have been so supportive and the ability to talk to fellow true crime addicts and artists has been incredible, where perseverance is 100% something you need on this platform I would also say sometimes there is a time to hang up your hat and try something new, my old channel allowed me to learn about editing, SEO and thumbnail design which has made this process a 100x easier.

Congats man! What kind of gaming content you’ve been creating on your old channel? I mean was it montages, playthroughs and etc

It was funny moments, I even had a few opportunity's to hang out with a few bigger Youtubers who taught me more about SEO, Despite a few shoutouts I didn't see organic growth, A lot of people think if you get a big youtuber to shout you out then suddenly your channel is set for life, Sadly that's not the reality.

Impressive production. Not really the kind of content I like to watch. However, I watched a couple of minutes on your Unit 731 video. Really impressive opening. I learnt about Japanese war crimes in China years ago. It is amazing how many people in the west are unfamiliar with this part of history. When people learn about what the Japanese did in Asia it is understandable why Asians have such resentment and fear of Japan. I think Japan was every bit as vicious in that region of the globe as the Nazis were in Europe.

Thank you and that's fair, I've asked my viewers on multiple occasions on who or what they want me to cover, I've been surprised by how many of them wish me to cover people like Yang Xinhai who was China's most prolific serial killer, I guess as you say a lot of these event's just aren't covered as much which I do find very bizarre, My latest video which is on the cult of Aum Shinrikyo infamous for the Sarin Gas Attack has drawn in a lot of new viewers, most people only discuss their infamous attack despite the fact the cults crimes are nearly endless. Thanks for checking out my work I appreciate it.

I grew up in a small town in rural New Zealand and even there we had some gruesome murders. Two sisters were murdered with a poker back in the 1930s I think it was. I was in high school when I found out about it. I did a local history assignment on it for history class. I was lucky that I got to speak to a few old people in the local retirement home. They seemed to remember the incident well. Yet the new owners of the house had no idea what had happened in their home decades before. Infact most of the people who I spoke to my age or even as old as my parents at the time had no clue.
It's amazing what happens in history that we don't know. I learnt then the lots of small towns around the world probably have loads of "skeletons" in their closets so to speak.

Agreed, the town I live in has had some pretty dark moments, A lot of people think small towns are the safest which for the most part they are, But when a horrific event happens it hits harder, In the city you get use to the idea of violence so there's some form of desensitisation to the whole thing, but in a small town? when it hits it's biblical in scale and traumatises the community for years, They are very quick to bury the past which you can't blame them for.

BeyondTheDarkYT - where are the bulk of your viewers located geographically? Finding interesting but obscure stories for them about their own areas, that they may not know about, could be a winner.

Oh and congratulations on the channel too !
