YT already asking me to monetize???

My new channel was just set up mid-October, I got almost 1,300 channel views, 24 subs, about 77 vids and maybe the one with the most views has like 300 views.... and already I got a tab that says 'monetize your videos and grow your audience! become a youtube partner today!!

I don't know... should I go ahead? I obviously won't monetize my VGM episodes since they have game footage, but I can at least monetize my rants and stuff that just has me talking in a room without anything.

I'm also gonna upload a review on Ted, but I will be posting pics of the movies to make it more interesting than just me talking in a room. Can I still monetize that?

Hi there!

You are permitted to publish and monetize any videos that you own all the rights to. If you own all the audio and visual aspects of a video then you are free to monetize it. If however you use an audio track that you don't have a license to use then your video will likely be either removed by Youtube or adverts will be placed on the video on behalf of the copyright holder.

I'm not so sure about posting the pics of the movies... I'd be concerned that they might be flagged for infringing copyright. Your best bet is to make sure you have permission to use certain content or make sure that whatever you post is 100% yours.

Hope this helps!
Kind regards,

Jon

I have no idea how to get Seth McFarlane's permission to post pics of his movie.... I guess I'll play it safe and just monetize my rants that are basically just me talking in a room with no pics or background music or whatever. I'm surprised they gave me that option to early in the game however.[DOUBLEPOST=1356147757,1356147420][/DOUBLEPOST]I'm also confused as to wether to become a partner or wait til I get more views and stuff to become a partner with a network that will allow me to monetize the VGM episodes. I heard if you already have adsense it will be harder to be accepted by a network. However, I do know I'm VERY far off from doing that since I'm basically still starting out.... but I'm thinking about the long run with this.[DOUBLEPOST=1356150076][/DOUBLEPOST]Wow... well anyways, I decided to take the plunge and clicked 'yes'.... and YT monetized ALL my videos... so yeah, I had to scramble like a madman to UNmonetize all my game videos and only keep the ones that are just rants and talking without any music, pics or anything. Man, that was a close one. I didn't expect that to happen. So I guess... I'm monetized.
