I've Got It
Hey guys, not too sure if many of you know this, but youtube is thinking of introducing a Pay to view certain content. This would be in the form of the Internets equivalent to tv series. I just want to know your guys opinion and thoughts on the topic :)

Should it be free?

This idea is b******t. Content creators are the owners and as far as I'm concerned the only part of YouTube that matters.

Allowing businesses to opt-in to our community as a way to get our money is sickening.

You're all getting the wrong message.

They are having a very limited amount of special channels that you pay to subscribe to. Your perfectly normal and average users are fine. No small youtubers, no big youtubers.

It starts with a small group of special channels, but then it will spread to everyone eventually!

lol just kidding, but It wouldn't surprise me if that happened.

This is exactly what I am talking about. These Special Channels take away the very base of YouTube. YouTube is made by Us,(You), Businesses are not content creators, they are advertisers, they should not be allowed to have a private pay only feature on OUR community that WE BUILT.

What are you talking about? So many businesses create YouTube videos for their products. Such as vat19 - They're big in the community.

A few select channels will receive that ability, it's a bit like some movie streaming site to be honest. Ignore it if you dont want it, if anything it's actually more effort to go along with it then not.

Correct, Businesses do create videos right now, such as Vat19. They currently DO NOT have the ability to charge for the views that WE are giving them, that WE created by building this website full of videos, that WE subscribe and support.

This website was built on users, creating content, in a free and equal market. This movement to paid views is a direct attack on the free users that built this billion dollar website for them.
