Hey, I thought I'd ask people what you think about the following:
Are Youtubers being too much victims of catch-22? "You won't get premium account without enough views/subs and you won't get a lot of subscribers without premium account."
This is obviously always gonna be the case for the laziest Youtubers out there. We all need to work for our premium accounts, after all. But is it a bit stingy and do the wrong people get the most views on their videos?
I've seen a bunch of videos on youtube that are just bad and uninteresting, and yet it's viewed by 100k+ people after just having been uploaded for a month or two. On the other hand, I see other videos that are pretty decent and get a lot of likes, but is haunted by very few views even after 6 months+. And I'm not just talking about what I personally like and how that could easily be a major bias here.
I'm talking about how much you have to rely on external methods outside of Youtube to make your youtube videos visible. Essentially, my point is that it doesn't really matter how good your video is (within a certain quality range) as long as you spend tons of time adverticing it on Facebook, Twitter, forums and a million other places.
But does it matter if you got a premium account or not? How many of you prefer to watch and subscribe to Youtube videos with an proper thumbnail, layout and whatnot - generally a premium account? Obviously there's always exceptions, but then again the "Charlie bit my Finger" video was pretty effing exceptional too, so it deserved that many views. But in general, does it really happen just a bit too often that "you won't get premium account without enough views/subs and you won't get a lot of views/subs without a premium account"?
