YouTube views dropped abruptly?

Hi everyone (Sorry if this is the wrong section, I've literally just joined this website)

So basically...

On June 14th my YouTube views dropped abruptly over night from all traffic sources. I was getting roughly 2.5 million views a month (mostly from compilation videos) and now my stats are dropping because of this issue, I don't see how 80% of people could suddenly stop watching my videos?

Here are some 10 day stats before / after the abrupt drop:

BEFORE:
Suggested video
312,248 views

Mobile apps and direct traffic (unknown sources)

YouTube partner promotion
256,886 views

YouTube – other features
30,516 views

AFTER:
Suggested video
116,658 views

Mobile apps and direct traffic (unknown sources)

YouTube partner promotion
58,546 views

YouTube – other features
12,047 views

I have also attached a picture showing the drop.

This this a bug / glitch?

Thanks so much,

George Power Finch.

It's not likely a glitch. What has probably happened is you were being botted before, and now YouTube have rectified it or something. I can't imagine you'd suddenly lose that many views. Have you lost subs?

I'm thinking the same thing Frankie said. It is possible they were being botted, and now they aren't.

Just based on what I'm seeing, it's a combination of factors. You have a ton of views relative to comments left on your videos, which either means you get a lot of views through embedding on external sites, you're paying for an ad service like adwords/virool or there's some botting going on. If you're getting a lot of views from embedding and those external sites are getting less traffic, then your views will go down as well. I can also see that views via partner promotion (overall percentage relative to total views) has gone down dramatically. That might have something to do with Penguin 2.0 and the SEO changes that youtube recently implemented since you seem to tentpole your titles/tags from popular videos. I also see copyrighted footage from other creators on your channel. I don't know if you have permission, but if you don't (even if it's acknowledged in the Content ID system), changes in YouTube's SEO practices will not favor your video over those who legitimately own the footage, so chances are a lot of those videos have moved down significantly in the searches.

I wasn't being botted, a few of my videos went viral so I guess they've just lost popularity :) no I'm still gaining subs.[DOUBLEPOST=1372333643,1372333530][/DOUBLEPOST]

I got a free $20 voucher from Virool which gave me 300 views haha so it wont be any promotion sites / botting. I'm just guessing that a few of my viral videos have lost popularity which is a shame. Being a partner I rarely get copyrighted which is unusual, only 1 of my videos have copyright.

What is with people being botted so much lately? Seeing this a lot in the forums.

I've come to the conclusion that many people who get botted do so because they sign up for something and don't realise that it's a botting service. There are exceptions of course, but it's more plausible. It's like when people get their bank deets stolen usually because they filled out an email with all their information haha.

Same thing is happening to me. I had a video that went viral from August until yesterday, receiving 50,000 views/day. Suddenly in the last 24-48 hours I've only received 1,000-2,000 views. I was really like the gravy train I was riding there for awhile with hitting 3.7 million views with one video. I figured it would last forever and it would patter out, but this sudden drop off happened over night. I don't really understand what gives.
