Youtube Subscriber Loyalty Formula

Hey guys this is a simple formula to help you keep track of your Youtube accounts, and of others.

The Problem:

You want to keep track of your Views:Subs ratio, and if you use a Video Stats site like vidstatsx.com, you will be able to compare yourself to other youtubers with the same amount of Subs or views as you.

The Solution:

There is a Simple formula I came up with to compare my channel to others, and I use vidstatsx.com, so I know who to compare myself too.

First, find your view count and subscriber count, these can both be found on your channel Homepage.

ex. Let's use my Channel as a first example.

Now, we simply divide the Views by the Subscribers!

ex. 2293/221 = 10.37555

Now that number that we got is my Subscriber Loyalty number, or Sl's
10 is actually really low, so in comparison, let's do this on another youtube channel, SmoshGames, perhaps.

so, doing the math, SmoshGames has a Sl of 104.6, which is really good.

In conclusion:

You can use these tips to compare yourself to other youtube channels, and monitor your Subscriber Loyalty! Cheers!

Hmmm.. This also seems to measure how many viewers you need to gain a subscriber. That doesn't really seem like a good thing to be high.

Well I find that having more views per sub is a good thing. SO let's calculate that!

Subs: 221
Uploads: 27

Now we can find out how many views per video, which is another good thing to find.

All we do is find the Sl, and then multiply it by your upload number!
So using my channel, we get:
84.925 views/video

Now thats like saying I only get 85 views per video, which is why you want to have that Sl up higher.

Comparing to a channel like Smosh is a mistake. Their videos have much higher page rank due to high views which in turn brings in far more organic search results than a small channel. This skews their numbers significantly.

I agree with Tarmack. But I also dig what you're doing here trying to figure it out or create your own formula. I know you were only using smosh as an example but no channel that we all compare too even come close to the financial backing and ranking they get.

Of course, ut say If I compare my channel to cam94509's channel, and we both do gaming videos, I bet well see a difference.

My Sl:

10.872

cam's Sl:
422.174

Which means that cam's 155 subs watch more of his videos than my 220 subs do for me, which is bad for me haha but good for him.

You're comparing oranges to ducks.

See, when you get to the point where search rank gets involved, you lose any possible linkage between subs and views.

Subscribers do not generate long term views in any great capacity and certainly not more than organic search. What subscribers do is provide burst views when a new video is uploaded. Within those first few days the video gets a good pump of views, gets a decent rank potentially and then the views jump from there by search results.

To show this in a practical sense. cam has 65K views. Divided by 155 means each sub would have had to watch about 400 videos. Since he's only got 166 up, that means each sub more than doubling up which is unlikely. I would venture that less than a tenth of cam's views are from subscribers.

Unfortunately, the reason your subs are that high without the views to match is I suspect because a significant portion of your subs came from your giveaway videos.

I appreciate your efforts. However, I do feel that your number is a bit too simplistic. I'd spend more time focusing on what's easily available in your Analytics. Audience retention, Likes, and even demographics could be far more useful to you in helping figure out how your channel is doing than a simple views per subscriber ratio.

This doesn't work sorry. I have 52,000 views but only 150 subscribers. When I divide it I get a number more than my subscriber count.
