YouTube is paying top creators to promote its new Twitch-style features

YouTube, facing increasing pressure from competing platforms, is trying to help new monetization features get off the ground — and it’s even willing to pay creators to promote them. According to a report from Bloomberg, the Google-owned platform is offering creators up to hundreds of thousands of dollars if they agree to use new donation and paid memberships features introduced earlier this year. The move could keep these influencers from leaving the site for rival streaming sites like Twitch and monetization platforms like Patreon.

Interesting, certainly noticed more gaming youtubers upload less and less as they migrate to Twitch.
Guess Twitch and its Prime sub is more attractive that trying to get YouTube views.

Its about time they have some competitions for creators...which will only mean a plus for us all as creators LOL

There are only stupid gamers on youtube. All e-sport gamers are on twitch. Youtube is a poor gaming plateform. Too many copyright strikes, too less money. And the youtube algorithm is only a clickbait machine.

Seems like all platforms are attempting to dip into the same mediums. Don't know if this is going to be a winning strategy. I get that platforms are competing for watch time but so many are only offering subpar alternatives to their secondary mediums. YouTube should do better in improving viewership on uploads by providing greater incentives to quality content creators. Twitch already has a solid platform in paid subscriptions and sponsors. Insta is the only that makes sense to dabble in further mediums since images and short videos can only go so far.

I like it. Youtube has needed something like this for a while, however, I don't think the requirement should be 100k maybe more like 50k this should give Youtube a bit of a leg up as well since Twitch is dropping ad-free viewing on Prime subs.

Mayhaps Youtube needs to suck it up and re-monetize the little guys again, since they only used Logan Paul as a scapegoat for doing that.

I agree, live gaming and stuff like EVO coverage is much better over at Twitch. I'll always love actual reviews and top 10s though, so Youtube is still my preferred platform. I like seeing some guys like Game Sack and AVGN that are just having fun reviewing games and aren't just playing some new game for 10 minutes and cranking out a new video just because first day new game view$$$$.
