I got a notification this evening that my entire channel has been demonitized. It's really frustrating because I know what triggered it and yet there seems to be no form of appeal.
I ask for permission from the copyright holders of all videos before using their clips. In this case I was given permission from a copyright holder to use a clip he had filmed on his mobile phone. He had also allowed Channel 4 to use the clip in a documentary from several years ago without payment or licensing in perpetuity.
So channel 4 had uploaded their documentary to Youtubes content identifier some time ago. The mobile phone clip in my video then triggers a content alert and I am told all is okay by Youtube, and that although I cannot monetize the clip, Channel 4 have allowed the clip to remain and ads might run on the video.
In the end I decided to remove the video, edit out the content that triggered the conflict and reupload.
After the review of the video Youtube have demonitized my whole channel and tell me I must wait 30 days before reapplying.
Is there no form of appeal against this?
