Youtubers aren't celebrities unless they are from something else ...tv movies music etc
Having notoriety isn't the same as being famous .
If I saw Smosh or Epic Meal Time on the street I'd be like oh cool.
If I saw Michael Jordan or like Brad Pitt .... I'd lose my absolute s**t
Ask 5 random people who John Mayer is ... 4 if not 5 will know
Ask 5 random people the annoying oranges real name ... i doubt anyone knows

Taken into context, you're only noticed by people who are aware of you; to think people doing YouTube are well known is laughable. They may make a good living but if they're not being highlighted across all media; so-called 'celebrity' will pass them by.
I've met more people who use YouTube and have never heard of PewDiePie - to think he's a prominent figure in the world is a joke. He's doing well on a particular website - and making a living. That is all.

I had to push for that class. I really should be in other advanced classes. Science for example, where everyone else is struggling to understand I've already got everything. Most of the time at least. Classes feel so slow sometimes -_-

I think it largely comes down to the person and their real life personality. Stay with me on this one!
If a youtuber is quite an awkward person in day to day life then I reckon they'd be less likely to be recognised out and about just because they'd stand out less or try to at least.
Where as if they're quite an out going person anyway attention might be drawn to them or they might even try and seek it. I don't know haha
Also comes down to how "famous" they are exactly on youtube.
But on the whole, youtube fame is still miles off of being equivalent to hollywood fame or anything like that.
