Youtube extensive branding.

I Love YTtalk
You may have seen that some channels, such as VEVO or the Ellen show. You can get this by paying a large sum of money to Youtube.

I'm interested if any of you know the exact metrics for this, because I know that it shouldn't be too bad for smaller things. I know the Nyan Cat video had a nyan cat as the little player dot for a week, and I believe they payed like 100 dollars to get that.

There are no specific metrics for what this would cost me, but which email would be the correct one to approach Youtube about this!? @Wrecklesseating I saw your post about contacting Youtube, however I'm not sure whether this is press or sales.

I think you're wrong about paying $100 to get the nyan can player thing. I believe YouTube just did that by themselves as a joke; It would have costed WAY more than $100 if it were offered at all. Also, vevo has a special relationship with YouTube, so that's why they get the special branding. As for "branded channels", which are the ones that have special features beyond what a normal channel can do, you're looking at up to $200,000 in advertising to be able to get it.

The most notable feature is a "custom" tab where you can basically put whatever you want. After doing some digging, there are services out there that give you this ability such as "clipster", but I'm assuming that because you have to call for the price, it's at least a couple thousand dollars a month. As an example, look up the channel "clipsterdemo" and look at the "clipster" tab.

(Apparently I can't post links which is frustrating)

The Nyan Cat video was done by youtube at no charge-it was something their engineers did for fun, which happens on super high view count videos when they hit milestones. As far as I know, there's no way you can get youtube to play ball other than to have a super highly viewed video. Companies that pay for a roadblock ($500k per 24 hour block) don't have access to it. In terms of a customized page/tab added like Clipster that Thiojoe mentioned, it's known as a Distributed Engagement Channel. Youtube will not sell the service directly to anyone, so you have to go through a service. It's not cheap and when you start a DEC on your channel, everything on there has to be approved by youtube, which takes 3-5 days, so if you make any changes to it, they need to be approved. You can't just sub in a new video as the feature like you would on your current homepage. The most widely known of the companies offering DECs is This Moment.

So someone linked clipster, I'm really considering investing in it in the future.
