Youtube Content ID and Sync Licensing

I tried to apply for Youtube Content ID for our music, audio only and got rejected. We record our own music and want to protect it. I have been reading that I need to get a sync license from a big publisher to do this. As youtube doesn't deal with little channels. Here is a link for a publisher CD baby. They charge $59 per album upload their site and will monitize content everywhere not just youtube.

CD Baby will content ID the music for me if anyone uses those music anywhere on youtube they will collect the adverstising on those videos. Does anyone have any experience with licensing? sync? etc. Please share your experience on music usage for youtube as well as licensing.

CD Baby had a content ID on music on one of my videos which was royalty free and public domain. I had to put in a claim to get them to remove it, so they are not in my good books for claiming public domain music.

I have an album on CDBaby that is under the Rumblefish Sync License program. Yes you will need to actually become a CDBaby Artist to get into the program to start with, which means paying a $59 publishing fee to get your album on the site. The Sync Licensing appears as an opt-in feature during the initial publication setup.

You will also need to ask to have your own YouTube channel "whitelisted" by CDBaby/Rumblefish if you don't want your videos to generate a Content ID once you join the program. If you are not already with a multi-channel network the Content ID feature will be less problematic; as you can simply acknowledge the Content ID and allow CDBaby to collect your rev share for you. CDBaby recently founded an MCN of its own, but I have little info on it.

They charge $59 per album. What does that mean? How many songs can be in one album?
Hi there pandakidztv!
"They charge $59 per album" means that the artist needs to pay CDBaby $59 per uploaded album as a publisher's fee. I don't think there is a limit to how many songs can be in one album as long as it is a digitally delivered one. A physical CD on the other hand, would have a time limit of 74-80 minutes, and all album songs would have to fit into that time limit of disk space.
