Hi all,
I've got a quick question I was wondering if you guys would be able to shed some light on as I'm genuinely baffled as to how this is possible.
About 2 years ago I set up some trackers on a few youtube channels for subscribers and views as a way of doing some A/B testing. While most of them make sense to me (a steady increase in subs and views over time, or a "Stop/Start" type of growth over time. There are 6 channels I've seen that make no sense to me.
They upload 2-3 times a day every day (at least 3 videos a week will be 3 hour streams) doing a mixture of scifi and gaming content. but the interesting thing is...noone watches them. There streams are often empty and commentless and These channels have hundreds and hundreds of videos that at most. At absolute most. Have 10 views a video, and that's top end. They generally average 2-4 views a video.
Heres the twist. These channels have spiked in subs over the last 2 years...the best case study is a channel that went from 50 subs in 2018 to 2000 subs as of today.
How are channels getting this many subscriptions when even there oldest videos dont break 10 views and a massive swathe of them never get viewed ever? If noones watching how is there count going up? It's so confusing!? (I can also confirm that these channels lifetime views range between 1000-2000 views total.)
I'm sure theres a generic reason I'm not seeing...but any help would be appreciated
