YouTube Card Annotations Featuring Static Ads

Hi all,

I've just tried a card annotation on one of my videos for the first time & set it up so it's linking to another video of mine.

Once saved I check it out & thought it would just be thumbnail or text (pointing to my other video) but to my surprise I see it also displays a scroll-down menu featuring static ads relating to the subject matter of my video .. is this normal?

If so, does it work the same as monetization in terms of potential earnings?

Yh you can make money off it as it counts towards monetization ad revenue, it's called sponsored cards on the monetization section when you edit the video. I have them turned off so my cards only link to other videos and don't display ads.
