Youtube Avatar Dimensions [not for upload]

Hi. My thread post title might be a bit confusing but basically I want to know what's the dimensions that the Avatar is displayed at. Not the 800 x 800 which is what YouTube asks us to upload at but basically RELATIVE to the Channel Art what are the dimensions assuming channel art is the 1546 x 423 safe area that YouTube says it uses.

Basically, I'm trying to make sort of a transparent avatar but since YouTube don't recognize GIF transparency so I have no choice but to color in the background of my channel art into the avatar but when I do it at 800 x 800 it becomes distorted. Bleah.

Um. well if you look at my channel now you should be able to see what I'm talking about. Because my channel art is like a graph paper kinda grid so I'm trying to put that into the background of the avatar so it looks like one continuous piece.

Ohhh alright, basically you just have to enlarge the backround until it fits perfect. Just give it a few tries and it should work out! :)
And I mean the backround of the avatar

Yeah I just fixed it. Bah. I know I could do it that way but it'd take like trial and error and I was hoping someone would know the exact proportions. Oh well, I did an overlay of it and slowly figured it out. Hahaha... thanks for the help anyways.

The way the background banner looks will be relative to monitor size, window size, what device it's viewed on... you'll never get that avatar to line up perfectly unfortunately. To see what I mean drag your window wider then narrower. You see how the banner sort of moves with it?

Yup. I see it. I'm resigned to not having it align perfectly but before I fixed it, the grid squares in the avatar were way too small compared to the channel art. At least now they are the same size even if the grids don't align perfectly. I'll just have to be satisfied with that. lol. Wonder why Youtube doesn't just allow transparency in avatars since Google+ does.
