YouTube ad's cannot be muted now?!

So I just got a new ad on YouTube that couldn't be skipped, muted or even see the time, just a yellow progress bar.

Not even that little caption box in the bottom right that says: "video will begin after ad".

I'm not sure if my browser is malfunctioning but I kinda thought I'd lose the freedom of that mute button to force the ad more. If I'm not interested in an ad don't shove it down my throat lol.

Can't believe they demonetize you for mentioning controversial issues like war, then in the new 2017 YouTube Rewind video they show a small clip of war/ controversial topics. Also feature Philly D who constantly struggles with that issue of being demonetized for covering news. So strange and confusing. I love YouTube but I'm lost here.

**UPDATE** just browser malfunctioning. Haven't lost my mute abilities. Maybe I over reacted a bit sorry

Think it might of just been your browser. i have been able to skip all the ads today

I havnt seen this but thank goodness you have the choice to no longer use Youtube anymore if you feel so victimized from them shoving ads down your throat.

Was it a 7 second or 15 second ad? I find those to not be that much of an inconvenience. Besides, it's free content.
