I'm talking about the 55% share of paid subscriptions etc that people are talking about.

I think that YouTube wants to be the next Netflix or Vessel... Competing with the wrong sites.

Let me hear your thoughts!

To be honest I think it's a good idea if people want to pay they will feel they are directly supporting there favourite youtubers :)

not sure on all the details, I would not make people pay though. I only have hundreds of subs, and I doubt any of them really watch my videos enough to pay.

I think that this ruins smaller channels. I don't want people to pay to see my vids either... Youtube should be free for everyone. They already have pay per subscription channels, that you have to pay to see videos, like movies etc. So why now forcing people to make them pay 10 dollars a month, just to be on youtube and watch ad free? People use ad blocker already. And if they find a way to disable ad block, people still don't want to pay 10 dollars. And the biggest mistake that they make is that they assume that everyone lives in the US. What about people in other countries? Are they even able to pay?

So frustrating...

I feel you. But at the same time, I am thinking about that supporters already have that opportunity to help out their favorite youtubers with that new other program called 'tip jar'. Or buying their merch, or donate through their official sites.

In my opinion, if a viewer wants to pay to get rid of ads and at the same time support their youtubers, it's a good thing. But not if you're forced to. I think that they should keep the original system (keeping ads for 68%) for the ones who don't want to pay, and have this feature of paid subscriptions of 55% for the ones who are willing to pay. This way everybody wins.[DOUBLEPOST=1430865963,1430865732][/DOUBLEPOST]
I believe it not a Fee to watch videos it just if you pay you don't get adverts, like Twitch Turbo
The system is like this: if for example you pay 10 dollars, and ONLY watch one person's videos, then that person will get $5,50. The creator will only get that amount from one person if that person watches only his/her video (I mean 100%). If for example that person watches a few more videos of a few more creators, then that 5,50 dollars will be split between you and the rest of the creators that your viewer watch. That means even less than 5 dollars etc or maybe even a few cents. It depends on the viewer of how active that viewer is. The more percentage of your videos your viewer sees, the better.

True, but if we take a number like $2/1K views, each view on average gives you .2 cents each. 0.2 into $5.50 gives 2750.

2750 : That's the amount of videos a paying youtuber would have to watch to dilute each video viewed to give each video owner 0.2 cents (if each view was equal in time).
