You have $500 to spend on a new video camera...

500 is more then enough to get you a full hd 1080p camera now,i mean the one i was using before it broke was 1000 bucks when i bought it but it's gone down to about 400 something. so if your filming movies an hd camera is the best way to go,reason why cause that's basically what most you tubers are using for there videos now. so in order to keep up with them we gotta use similar tools!

and CODE maybe in the future you might wanna save up for a camera might help you out,but in my honest opinion it might just be me. but whatever your using to shoot your videos now is awesome cause it gives it a more undergroud rap feel. i dunno if thats what your going for,but it just adds a wicked effect to it

I would probably go for the JVC Everio (GM/HM it is one of the two)330SEK, thats what my girlfriend has and its a good camera, it records in full HD, the only way I can really fault it is not allowing for an external microphone. They have plummeted in price lately too.

this!

it so happens this is my newest camera and i love it!

Canons new M500, its superior to the old M40 and for some reason cheaper.

Has a great sensor and all the features you need. I was going to get one but ended up upgrading my audio instead as my video is pretty good for my older camcorder.

If you had more to spend the M51 and M52 have extra features like wifi witch would be very nice.

The big question is, what are you using it for? If you are doing interviews and things where you don't have to run around, I would go for a DSLR like the newer Canon Rebels. If you need to move around and change focus a lot, the Canon HV or HF series are pretty good.

canon t2i,
1. has lenses, making it able to film video with aperature
2. shoots in 1080p hd @ 24 fps or 720p @ 60fps
3. adjustable censor settings so that you can better edit them in post
4. 18mp CMOS sensor better than most "HD" consumer cameras on the market
5. standard kit lens is perfect for shooting videos with youtube
6. can get better audio than most cameras when running magic lantern firmware

can find it on ebay for around $500

^ I recently bought my very own T2i.
I found it Used at high quality from B&H, which was a little more reliable than a used camera from ebay. I was even able to buy an extended viewfinder, extra battery and grip for it, all under 500$!

I absolutely love the video it provides, i have been using it regularly, and haven't had any problems with the file formats. for some reason, my pc just doesn't care for that AVCHD video from my JVC Camcorder, which used to be my main camera.
