Written Permission For Monetisation

I have been given permission to use certain music tracks by different artists over messaging on SoundCloud. They're very happy for me to use the music in my videos as it would be a form of promotion for themselves.

However, to be able to monetise the videos once uploaded, I need 'written permission' from these artists and I don't think a SoundCloud message will be strong enough to account for this. Does anyone know what I should do to get this written permission? Perhaps get them to write an email to me?

I would feel a lot better if I were to get a signature, though.

I have seen the advice that YouTube give on this, but they make it clear that the advice they provide is solely for educational purposes and is not legal advice.

Many thanks.

Getting signed permission electronically can be a bit tough, but doable. I'm not an expert, especially because the legalities all get muddled up and confusing (for example, maybe a message from the artist would be enough to dispute any copyright claim of a small scale? Maybe not?). That being said, you could try sending them a form in PDF format, and most PDFs can be "signed" (Apple's "preview" app has a signature feature, actually. Really handy!).

Thanks very much man. Do you know what kind of wording is required legally?

About signatures... I use the electronical one for work and It is perfectly legal but I'm talking about europe continent... I've a "PEC" @mail that is an italian "REM" (Registered Elettronic Email) receipt of the European standard.

My workflow for this kind of certification is usually: Write a lecter where I put my national laws referrals, print a *.pdf, sign It with my personal electronic sign (I know that out of Italy adobe EchoSign is Accepted), send It through REM to the customer or store it in personal doubled (for security) database.

Hope It could help....
