Worrying a lot!

Hello everyone!

I worry a lot about copyrights. I try to not record Nintendo games but also everyone that owns even the smallest game can take my videos down and in 3 strikes i am banned from youtube. How can i protect myself better? I really love youtube and don't want to loose all my hard work :(

Hey there

Well from what I know of is that you should always try to turn off any in game music. Not sounds but like the background music. Some games have royalty free music such as League of Legends (I think you can even use their music and videos in yours without having any copyright issues). Otherwise I think it should be fine but I'm not an expert on this subject.

Hope I could help you somehow but maybe somebody else has a better answer. But for now you have mine :)

A good idea for AAA titles is to cut out the cutscenes and if an open world game uses licensed music (IE GTA, Saint's Row series) would be to turn off the radio when entering a vehicle in the game's options.

Just avoid Nintendo videos entirely, apparently they don't care about their content being promoted with their BS claims.

Ohh I see so basically just people care about their music being played without their knowledge and secondary about the gameplay. I have heard some stories though that whenever companies doesn't like peoples review on a game they just ban it too because it would ruin their reputation (like Totalbiscuit's video about a bad game).

This is really unfair..

Google ""Let's Play" friendly developers Wiki" and you'll see a full chart showing each gaming company, what they allow, and what you can use on Youtube with their permission.
Go to each developers website to confirm that the info is up to date if you're still worried.

Oh i see.. Yes that would be really helpful. But i usually play random flash or gamejolt games too what about these kind of games? I have a playlist of 200+ games i couldnt just go to everyone and ask permissions. Or they are too small that they don't even care?

For random flash games, you have to watch out for music and images imho. The could be using images taken from google, even things like textures, so you never know. Although, I don't know if youtube will be able to detect them.
