Wirecast for Youtube HDMI Problem

Hey there, so for any of the full partners here you will probably have wirecast for youtube. Now, apparently if you have an hdmi mini cable for a camera you can plug it in a use it to stream, but I tried this and it never came up on the program. I checked all the usb connections and it wasn't showing up. I tried multiple times. The camera was enabled for it, power was on, the cable was in the laptop and camera properly. I tested it out on the TV and it worked, so I don't get what the issue is. It was on a windows 8 laptop, that may be nothing to do with it but I thought I might say that perhaps windows 8 is different when dealing with HDMI.

So, do any of you guys know what the problem might be?
