Will Changing The Name Of My Channel Have An Negative Affect?

Hi all,

I've got an old channel that's now dedicated to a niche & it's starting to pick up on the views, likes & subscribers front.

So I'd like to `blinging it up' a bit & give it a more suitable name, but in doing so, will it have a negative affect on my channel's weight /PR (or whatever the equivalent is for a YT channel?) & maybe more importantly, my already uploaded videos views / rankings?

I've already chatted to some of my subscribers & their feedback has been generally positive. My worry is more to do with it having an negative effect on my channel rep with YT ... e.g .. would changing the channel name have any effect on the rankings of my already uploaded videos etc. ?

You have to find a way to make sure your audience knows.
Social media blast it , maybe even make a video about the name change.
 
To answer your question. No your channel name shouldnt really affect you, as long as people know its you and you have good audience retention. As long as you make SEO work in the placing of your name it should be fine.

Or make another channel and keep that one as well. I have seen that on Youtube, especially if it is going to be different content.
 
I changed my channel name within the past few months and I didn't see any negative effect with YouTube stats/rep... a few people commented "why?" but that was it.
 
I think if you have created a huge empire in videos it could be a negative effect on the community you brought together. Think about RocketJump, and how it went from freddiew expanding his ability to make content was super beneficial and anyone who understands growth would be on board.
 
It may do with your current subscribers but if you do a video explaining why you changed it then you should be fine to change it to whatever you want.
