Will changing channel name affect how many views?

Hi, (this is my first thread so sorry if this is in the wrong place).

I have recently been thinking about changing my channel name to make it sound more interesting and more professional. My most popular video has close to 15,000 views and is the main video which brings people to my channel. I was wondering, if I changed my channel name could it possibly make me lose viewers on that video, due to people being unable to find it??

Thanks in advance for any replies :thanksthumbs:

No it will not, the reason people are being brought to that video is because it's popular, it has a high rank probably due to high audience watch time and its tags, title and description matching popular search terms, not your channel name. :)

I'd tread carefully, if it's getting good views I'd be leery about changing it.

Sometimes people just remember a channel name. So if you change it and they can't find it anymore you just lost some viewership. This is why I thought long and hard on my Channel name. I know I don't ever want to change it, and even if I where to leave Texas (very unlikely), it's my first state I lived in. So it will always apply to me.

And my second channel name is simple but memorable too. Granted I was subconsciously inspired by "ThatRacingChannel". I never found that out until I made the channel. But they do racing videos, and I do dashcam compilations of (mainly) bad drivers on that channel. So there shouldn't be a conflict of interest there.

I dont feel like channel name changes anything, the reason I started new was because I didnt like the url very much.

I changed my channel name several times before I settled on my current name. I have found that the only thing that changes is being able to brand yourself better. If you have a catchy name, it might actually help you.

I wish I could give you a qualified and experience answer, but I don't have experience with that just yet... so how about I give some opinions while I shoot in the dark with what I THINK would happen.

In my personal opinion, I don't see that it would affect much. If your video is popular and that is the driving force for bringing people to your channel, then that will continue to be the driving force of bringing you traffic. If, by chance, people are referencing your channel by name you can always put channel username in the channel tags for your channel and your channel will continue to be searchable by username as opposed to channel name. (For all I know, your username might always remain a tag to your channel, but just to be safe go to https://www.youtube.com/advanced_settings and put in the channel keywords bar the username for your channel. That will help.

With modern youtube, there seems to be a lot less emphasis on usernames. There's a pretty big shift for channel names being more important, so I really don't see it mattering. Just don't be too fickle with your username. Don't change it too often. Make a change and stick with it for a while. Try to solidify your idea before you officiate the change. And unless it's a big change, don't make too big a deal of it. Make the change and let it slip into existence hardly detected. If you're rebranding your channel on the other hand, if you're starting over with a whole new look, feel and username, it would be a good idea to let your followers in on the inside joke. Give them a brief overview on why you chose the new name, what the new direction of your channel is and just let it go.

I feel like I'm rambling, and I'm really sorry if my thoughts aren't clear enough at the moment. I'm tired, but I really wanted to jump in on this before I forgot about it.
