Will capture cards work on ps4?

So if you don't know the ps4 has no component ports only hdmi, so I already know my hd pvr 1 will not work. I'm looking at buying an elgato game capture. However it's unclear if the ps4 will have a Hdcp. At the moment it looks like it will on release but they will make a update letting us record through hdmi. Does anyone know the actual answer?
 
This is why I cancelled my pre-order, well partially. Sony won't say when. They've said that HDCP won't be on the PS4, then they said it will be via an update. THEN, they said after the patch it will be in developers control. So this means regardless of whether HDCP is removed from games from Sony, some developers might still prevent it thus rendering capture cards redundant for PS4. I'd recommend waiting before you make any purchases.
 
Plus the built in recording feature on the ps4 won't support YouTube right away, so that isn't an option either

That and it only records the last 15mins of gameplay :/ I don't know why they didn't just let you record as much as your HDD holds. Although, the PS4 won't support external HDDs so that's another problem to factor in.
 
Well you may not be able to use capture card but tv recorders are always a option. Possibly wont be as good of quality but food for thought I suppose.

I think this is a misconception. At least the way I understand it, it is Always recording and saves the last 15 min, in case you miss something cool. But if you tell it to record I think it will record longer. At least that's how the Xbox works. 5 min auto-recording plus longer if you ask it to.

Nope, with the PS4 you have to hit the share button to save the last 15mins. I know MS pretty much a day before Sony said anything about recording, had said they won't have HDCP at all and eventually announced they will allow you to record as long as your HDD can handle. If PS4 allowed longer recording I'd have kept my preorder xD It's possible they may have this updated in the future to compensate for people who can't afford capture cards but then the whole issue with not being able to edit it comes in. At this stage with the way Sony keeps changing their minds, I wouldn't take the risk. They've changed so much and announced so much about the console that we didn't know. It's like they're slowly easing out the bad stuff about it more and more.
 
That's true, kinda like how the no preowned games thing got taken out. Thats why i'm waiting to get my new gen console for them to sort out bugs and for a cheaper version.
