Why do people think it is scary to do commentaries and vlogs

I Love YTtalk
I asked my mate why he spends 2 hours extra making a script displaying on his videos when he can just speak. And he said it is so much pressure. WTF! This is the 5th person IK who is scared of them, but why?

I think people who have viewed my videos already know I just talk while playing. It's way more fun to do it that way!!

I used to be scared of doing commentaries because I worried about people making fun of my voice. Maybe that's part of the reason?

I think it is mainly teens worrying about crap. Will people think I am a mouse, will the girls like my voice ect. I think it is all little things brought up by teens 2bh

Agreed. If someone doesn't like your voice, let that be their problem. You're just having fun!

It's probably a social fear of being received negatively or being ridiculed. Typically the internet gives us anonymity. We hide behind a username and that wall gives us privacy and a new identity separate from our day to day lives. When you talk or even more specifically vlog you remove that wall and begin to merge your real life identity with your online one. To a lot of people this is very scary because you are opening yourself up to ridicule and personal judgement from viewers. Not to mention that sometimes a video will be better received when presented anonymously through text than by video or voice, especially if you have poor presentation with your voice/video.
