Why do people do this with their featured channels?

Generally when you start a channel, any possible help you can get would be highly appreciated.

So why on all the very low-subscribed game channels (and probably every other type of channel) are all the featured links to mammoth-sized channels like the yogscast/pewdiepie etc?

Surely a better use of featured links is to actually feature people who need the exposure? If you know someone that makes videos that you like and/or a channel that needs help with their sub count, that featured link would be worth so much more to them.

I want to stress that I'm talking about small channels, I can understand why a big channel would feature other big channels, usually because they are actually youtube friends.

Some people think that big channels will notice it and go "Wow! This person features me! I'm going to feature them back!" or they just add it on there to show that they're fans of them and want you to check them out. :-P

These are all 10 year olds playing Call of Duty and such. They expect to just magically get millions of views. I personally link several smaller people in my box. They aren't worth the time, so I don't waste too much effort showing concern over it.

Seriously there are people who are much older doing this too.

Well, this was just a stereotypical answer. Of course some are older, but that doesn't change the fact that these are people who don't understand networking, and hold no interest in working with people at the same level as themselves.

Hey I just to your channel and noticed something, you don't have you're banner clickable where it says "2nd Channel". Just thought I'd let you know! :)

Yeah, Michael from this site made that, but he couldn't get it to work. I got frustrated, and didn't know what to do, so I just quit. :/

I agree, and don't get why you'd ever feature one of the mammoth YT channels. I'd much rather feature only a couple friends, collaborators, or small channels I enjoy.

I agree. All of my featured channels link to people that I have met on YTtalk and which either a) make similar content or b) are doing such an excellent job that I think they deserve what little promotion being on my channel will get them. :)
