Why do copyright strikes add on?

For example i currently have 2 copyright strikes on a fairly new channel. The channel won't be in good standing until feb 9th 2016 which is absolutely crazy. Since when do they add up like that? It's now 1 year from the latest strike rather than 6 months.

ahahaha they have changed the rules, they wont ban the account anymore, if there is copyright, they'll just place ads around ur videos and they will earn money like this!

If I'm not mistaken they always stack, maybe not uploading content that does not belong to you might help? :p

I promote artists + I create mixes. That's what i've done for over 2 years now & I love helping others grow. The mixes aren't just any random popular songs chucked together i use songs submitted by artists who want my help & i create an experience rather than a playlist. Why is my content/fanbase/channel any less valuable than yours? The only issue I have (which is what happened here) I when I have submissions from artists who have strict labels which they don't mention & end up leaving me with strikes all because the artist didn't inform me.

I never said your content was less valuable than mine, but you're upload content that doesn't belong to you, and whether or not the submitters are in strict labels it's up to you to get permission from the record companies.
