Why did YouTube stop suggesting my video?

Hi everyone!

I had a video that was getting pretty good views, likes and comments and most were because it was being suggested. Then it just suddenly plunged. It was no longer being suggested on a popular video. My watch time is high and was getting good amount of likes daily. Can someone tell me why it plunged and does it have a chance of going back up in the future or is it a dud? Thanks in advance!

YouTube is interested in creating long view times. Apparently during one of the reshuffling it found chain of inter-related videos which was generating even longer view time and this chain didn't include your video.
Yes it is possible that your video will again become suggested but the chances are not big. This spring we had several of our old semi-viral videos re-activated but they were "dead" for more than 2 years! I think that if you keep uploading and maintaining active/popular your channel this will increase the chance of your video being reactivated but this is just a speculation.
In anyway - Good Luck!

Oh really! I've never had a video go this bad before. :( It just died!!! Look at the graph :( This video cost me so much hard work. It's so discouraging.

I just checked - a video of ours which "died" in the summer of 2013 get reactivated this spring (from 10-15 views up to above 5 k per day - now only 0.5 - 1k). Unfortunately such events are quite rare.
On the other hand I am almost sure that this is a kind of "reward" from the algorithm for not giving up and continuing the work on our channel.
So do not give - keep trying to improve your content and channel and you may see in the future some of your old viral movies being reactivated.

Yeah, it sucks. Especially if it was getting a bunch of views for a while. I find that YouTube can sort of give you a boost with crazy high numbers but after a few days it settles down. On most videos for me it will boost it to between 20-50,000 views per day and then it slows it down to around 4,000 -10,000. Some stay up in the 30-40K for a while and I've had a few that have gone a lot higher than that, but once they die it is normally the new "normal" sometimes it will pick back up again but it's rare.

Thanks for the replies :)

It just doesn't make sense. I checked a few videos that get viewed less than mine and are poorly filmed with a bad camera, shakey footage and they are getting recommended over mine with less engagement and less view time. I feel like someone is attacking my videos and channels to make this popular video disappear suddenly.

The odd part is, my old videos which are not as popular and never got popular are getting more steady views than this one is. It dropped so much. Should I re-upload the video with a better edited version? How can I do so without losing views? I have over 800 likes on it too. :(

PS - I don't know if theres anything to do with this but a YouTuber with less views than mine but higher subscriber count at the time. He wanted to collaborate and I declined due to limited time. I also read comments about him complaining about a few popular YouTubers and how they used bots to gain subs and views etc (not true -- both YouTubers had been promoted from big Youtubers). Then checked his channel and he had less than 300k views and 7000 subs. I checked his SB and it showed he gained 100 subs a day and getting about 3k views a day. Clearly he's using a bot or something similar.

Is there a way someone could be attacking my channel?
