Hey guys, the name be Lewis and I'm sick of sitting here feeling bloody envious whilst i watch videos from people like Ally Law, Ryan Taylor, Kill.em, etc.. don't you feel it too? Those guys are earning a fat wage whilst i'm grafting my tits off in a warehouse to earn less than half of what they do..

I always play with the idea of doing something similar to Ally, bouncing around with 3-5 friends.. but i'm 24 and I don't really have any friends that would be as willing as me to rake in a couple of quid; maybe at least £1500 or whatever, and just quit their job and take a chance for the best..

I'm living just outside Liverpool and life is pretty f*****g boring, not to mention SHORT. you can't exactly make an attempt at something like this and die now, so what is there to lose? I really want to just go vlogging or whatever, recording some mad funny videos, maybe even overnight challenges and dodging the security haha! it would be sick man, so sick!

guys, theres so much posibilities and youtube can change your life.

let me know your opinions guys, would you be willing to do something like this too? do you feel how i feel? or can someone point me in the right direction for a community with similiar feelings. :)

looking forward to your responses

Hi man, I feel you! It can be hard to look at what others have because it seems so easy.

I would encourage you to start vlogging yourself and trying to copy from the people you envy, seeing if you can do it better.
I for one got incredibly humbled by starting myself as I realized how much work it is.

Do you know YES THEORY? They started being sponsored by a company (I think called Brother) and doing snapchat for them thus building their audience.

But yes, my number one thing would be START doing! Start producing. Start hustling.

Listen to Casey Neistat and Gary V if you need motivation. :)

Feel free to write me if you have any questions. Quit the excuses, start doing!

Thanks so much for the reply man, when you want to face reality, your words couldn't be any more appropriate. Start doing..

I know straight up i'd have no problem when it comes to ideas for videos, and how to shoot them to make them appealing to the audiance, the only issue i could potentially have is editing, but still, i'm not new to editing softwares, i'm sure id manage it.

When it comes to Cameras for such things, GoPro is a good choice, right? I want to get comfortable recording myself etc, i'm determined now haha!

And in terms of hard work, i personally believe a lot of the work would be so much easier and even more enjoyable with some guys to accompany with.. but it's hard to find someone so keen and determined. Is it possible to find people here do you think?

also, do you still vlog?

(i'll check out some of those motivation vids too man, thanks for that)

For cameras GoPro is fine, but I dislike the view ratio. The whole fisheye thing is rubbing me the wrong way. It's okay for a couple of shots, but for a 10 minute video I would rather not. That is just my opinion though. :)

I am filming all my videos with a Canon Powershot G7x II for outdoors and Canon 5D Mk II for indoors. I am going to change my powershot for a Panasonic G80 (or G85 if you're American) soon. The reason? It has a microphone input, which means I can record proper sound when being outdoors. As of right now I cannot!

I would say image quality doesn't really matter. What matters is story and sound! If you have a good story and good sound, the audience is okay with bad image quality. If you have good image quality and good sound but no story, some will be okay with it (a lot of what Peter McKinnon is doing in his vlogs is making beautiful pictures.) If you have a good story, good picture but horrible sound most people will eventually jump ship, it just sucks. :)

I get what you're saying about company, it can be a little lonely sometimes. I would start going to faires and meetups near you or maybe just Friday bars. I have done a collab with a guy in my own town who I meet on a national YouTube-Facebook-group, maybe that is better?

Oh and yes, I still try to vlog. You can check out my newest video if you like – it's by far the simplest, but it has a story and that seems to catch people. :)

EDIT: For Casey Neistat's opinion on cameras and story, check out his video called Casey Neistat's Guide to Filmmaking. (I cannot link it, it is not allowed.)
