Intel Chips usually destroy AMD when you compare core to core, and for editing you need as many cores as you can get especially since you will be doing 3-d rendering, that being said the chip you selected for intel is core I5 which has 4 cores and no hyperthreading, this being as such the AMD chip would probably be a better choice just taking those builds however i would suggest building this

Core I7 4770(Either 4770k or just 4770 if no overclocking is planned)
For the RAM you should get 2 sticks of 8GB RAM each, since i think that motherboard only supports Dual Channel Memory so you will be loosing some speed if you go with 4 sticks
GPU i would recommend GTX 770 or GTX 760 (Unless there is a reason for choosing AMD cards over the new generation Nvidia GPU's)
Power Supply the 650 Watt is fine
and the rest of the parts the same

I think he has a budget. I would suggest the Intel build even though I like AMD processor and WD HDD, but everything else is better in the Intel build.

This times 100! A Hyperthreading i7 is a must for editing and 3d rendering.
I would say stick with the 7970... It's a little more powerful than the 760 and not worth the price jump to the 770 (unless you just want the newest product. I would wait a little until AMD has a game bundle with it. They always have great game bundles.

I noticed you had a case for the AMD build and not the Intel build, if you don't have a case otherwise you might want to add one to the Intel build.

If you were to go with the AMD build. switch out the 7870 for the 7970.
For the HDD don't get a WD blue. get either a WD black or the Toshiba from the intel build .
