Where do you find pictures and graphics for your banner?

Hello, I'm just setting up my first YouTube channel, so excuse me if this seems like a dumb question.

I'd like to make my banner now and I'm wondering where you get your pictures and graphics from? Do you create/draw them yourself or are there websites with free material? I'm asking because of the copyright issues. :)
 
People that are actually Photoshop competent usually draw everything themselves. I take images from Google and edit the background out.
 
As a Designer, I usually create most of my stuff from scratch. There is some stuff you can use, usually Graphics Packs from YouTube contain some good material that's free to use.
 
For graphics I use OpenCipart.org

They have a load of free graphics which can be used for commercial and non commercial purposes without attribution :)

But is that actually legal to just take them? e.g. I'd love to put a flower in my banner, so would it be okay to take a flower picture from Google and use it for my banner?

I wouldn't expect them to come after you, as billions of people do this. If it were something like taking an original artwork and claiming it as yours, that would be a lot worse.
 
Allot of the time I just GFX Packs that YouTuber's release for free. :) Sometimes I just use Google Images, others just art from the given game. :)
