When is the Best Time to Start Monetizing?

When is the best time to start monetizing your videos? Is there an unspoken milestone that is recommended you reach before monetizing? I was thinking about personally starting to monetize my videos at 1k subs, and when that happens, do I monetize my older videos as well as the new ones?
 
I don't think there is a certain time everyone does it differently. I did it when I hit I think about 150 subs because I started getting more consistent views and the more videos put out the higher my views a day was getting. 1,000 is definitely good by then because chances are if you get that many you will be getting a lot of views to make monetizing worth your while. Once you monetize, you can monetize all of your old videos too.
 
Stacy, did you make it public that you were monetizing your vids or did you just carry on like nothing changed? I assumed itd be best to keep that information to yourself.
 
I plan on holding off until I get at least a consistent view count of 100-200 per video within a certain time frame that hasn't been determined yet.
