When are the earnings converted from one currency to another?

Crown

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Hi everyone,

I live in Europe. My adsense account is therefore in Euros and that is the currency I get paid in at the end of the following month.

But as we all know, in YouTube analytics the actual ad revenue earned is in USD - makes sense, Youtube is an American company.

My question is how and when are the USD amounts converted to the EUR amounts (or whatever foreign currency people have their accounts in)?

Thinking about it, it's probably one of these options:

1)On a day to day to basis (at the end of each day's earnings during the current month)
2)At the end of the current month for the earnings for the whole month.
3)Just before payment on the 3rd week of the following month for the previous month's earnings.

Normally, it wouldn't really make much difference, but as some of you might have noticed, the USD / EUR and USD / GBP exchange rates are pretty volatile atm and as ad revenue increases, these fluctuations can have quite a big impact on the bottom line. I realise, there's nothing I can do about it either way, but I'd like to be able to accurately predict my EUR earnings.

I have no idea but I always thought it was in real time according to the daily exchange rate -otherwise YouTuber earnings can be wiped out at the end of the month.

In anyway if you do not get answer here better try with the official Adsense forums.

Hi buddy! I am glad I can help you with your problem. Google USD to Euro. :) or any other currency I hope that helps!
bwahaha! I can laugh because I've been guilty of the same thing, sometimes I read faster than my comprehension.

Crown, this article sheds a little light on the process. http://adsense.blogspot.com/2009/05/euro-reporting-and-you-your-questions.html

The conversions are happening daily, according to the article. This makes sense from a legal and business perspective, because if they weren't converting during the month, at the end of the month they would either take a big hit or a big windfall. Also, the funds aren't just sitting waiting for you, they are actively being invested until payday by Google, who gets to keep any profits/interest they earn. So they are likely being converted immediately for accounting and legal reasons, as well as for business transactions.

Yeah thanks, real time was my first thought too, particularly after looking at my adsense account in more detail. :)

Awesome, thanks for that and yes it confirms what I suspected. Real-time makes more sense.

The exchange rate has been quite a rollercoaster in the last week. The USD / EUR has gone from 0.8 --> 0.89 which basically gives me a 10% pay rise for just sitting around and scratching my a** lol

The only downside is that I have also made a few purchases for software and stuff in USD but I'm still up. Who'd have thought being a YouTuber would involve keeping an eye on the foreign exchange rates :) ;)
