What's your highest viewed video and why?

Hi All,

Sometimes it seems weird to me that some videos sky rocket while others sit around the lower view marks.

My question/discussion is, what is your highest viewed video and why do you think it is? Was it the way you shared it? The title? The thumbnail? What is the reason it's higher than your other videos.

I literally have no idea why my most viewed video even got any views. I barely promoted it, we were hung over when we shot it, it's not very well put together and we've made much better videos even before that one, but for some reason it keeps growing like crazy. I actually think it kinda hurts my channel at this point because it's not really representative of the kind of quality videos we make but it's also one of the only videos I have that actually shows up in Suggested so I'm too afraid to delete that potential audience stream lol

In short, I have NO idea how this Youtube thing works. Videos I try really hard on and think will do well, end up tanking terribly. Videos I barely put any effort in do the best. Its like Youtube is trying to tell me to try less hard. Very frustrating.
 
I'm not sure what it is as well, but I have an idea though.

First of all, I cannot imagine that it has to do with a certain thumbnail. Especially when you have a certain style of creating them and one video does better than others.

The title could be a thing though. I haven't been youtubing that long and haven't got that many views yet, but the ones that got the most have either some (at the moment) popular words OR strong language in them.

The main thing I believe is the way you shared and, maybe even more likely, the times the video has been re-shared. Keep in mind that well made videos are not always as appealing to others. They just like what they like.

Also timing is really important. I once made a really crappy, but apparently fun, video about the Dutch national team (other channel) when they were playing well in the Worldcup Football (soccer...you know...) and it got 300k views within no time. Timing and people who shared it was key in that case.

A Minecraft video got 290,000 views

It was because we uploaded it at the PERFECT time minecraft on xbox 360 was released and on that same day we found a glitch to produce unlimited items which there was no creative mode so this was not possible.

then we made a castle solely from Obsideon so people where shocked we managed to get so much obsideon on the release day haha...


little did they know we found a glitch lmaooo
 
My Magikarp video, it seems crazy to me because the quality is nothing to my newer videos, BUT my guess is that its the music, and the thumbnail that helped it go viral
 
My highest watched video is a comparison video of Eos lip balms & w7 Balms.... It's actually not the best vid I've made and I think it's funny that it get's looked at so much because I love the video's that I'm making now a lot more!
 
Witcher 3 boss guide video has over 6k views and i usually get around 100 views for each video I make. Just like some other people have mentioned, I posted it at the perfect time
 
Mine is from many years ago, it's called "My Apartment in Tokyo" (about 40K views). It's mostly popular because people love to see apartments in Japan, I guess. I made it for my family to see where I was living while I was working there. It's terrible quality, and I'm about 80 pounds heavier in it than I am now, so I don't like it very much. :)
