What to film in Slowmotion

Hey Everyone,

I am looking for suggestions what to film next with my highspeed camera (which can record with up to 150.000 images a second).
If you have any idea what could look funny, just let me know.
The last weeks I recorded exploding firecrackers under water, lighter, slap to face, destruction of water baloons, apples, eggs, ... but what could be the next step? Maybe something that is not uploaded a hundred times on Youtube;)

Rocks falling in water, waterfalls and streams, birds, cars on a highway, dogs running, etc. Might not be the funniest of ideas but I do love cinematic slow motion shots. So those are just what came to mind for me. Hope it helps. =]

Different weighted balls hitting the ground, parkour actions, someone flexing their arm. I’d love to see stuff like that since it’s great reference material for animating.

I think you have come to the problem many of us have discovered. A new ‘toy’ is obtained and after the first flush of enthusiasm wears off one can’t find anything else to do with it.

Your camera is just a tool that really should be used as part of an overall project and not just for demonstrating the interesting slow-motion effects. I occasionally make videos teaching others how to do something and having a section in ‘slomo’ is very handy. I don’t have a special camera but create the effect in the editing process.

A recent example was a person cutting out intricate shapes in wood with a bandsaw as part of teaching how to make interesting very small toys. At 100% speed, the video was fine but the action was just too fast to fully appreciate. After showing at 100%, the action was repeated at the slowest I could manage that still looked acceptable. This proved a success as a teaching aid.
Hope this helps.
Pete.

I don't have anything particularly funny, but maybe a bubble forming up close. I watched a slow mo of a bubble freezing before and it was pretty, so maybe you could take slow mos of other things freezing? Glass cracking/breaking? (you'd need to be careful not to damage yourself or the camera though) Or something bouncy like a person on a trampoline. A little ink dropping down into a different colored ink, making a little splash before their colors blend together (for aesthetics) Slinkies because those were awesome when I was younger

Thank you for all your ideas!
Most ideas are very nice in slowmotion, but when you film for example a waterfall with 20.000 frames
it would look like a still image:D
If's seem those ink videos, I will definitely try that ( if I get a colour sensor, at the moment I am filming in black an white...).
Breaking glas, ice or a flying away bird must be awesome!
Also to integrate shots like this in another video is a good idea,
but the problem is, that you need external power suply.... which
makes it quite uncomfortable to take it with you... but i will find a solution:)

something that we can't normally see with our own eye balls !.. like a birds wings etc.. I doubt you would capture that though as you would need special equpiment.. don't think your dslr or mobile ohone will cut it. Oh an please.. before you even think of it.. the world does not need gaming in slow mo
