Around what percentage of people who view a particular video read at least some of the first comments?
I realize the amount must vary widely from video to video.
I am guessing that around 1 to 10 percent of those who view a video will read at least some of the comments.
Has anyone seen any official statistics or care to make their own guesstimates about this?

It's the first thing I do when I click on a video. I feel like everyone reads the comments first to see if the video is decent or not. First I look at the like bar and then the comments and then I watch a bit of the video.

I do the same thing as JTMulcahy. I look at the ratings, then read the comments to see if the video is worth being watched.

I always read the top comments. Always. The way people respond to the video is often more entertaining than the video itself :)

The fact that more people pay attention to the comments and the like bar is just silly. What is the point of clicking a video when all you do is look at the feedback before deciding for yourself if it is good or not. Its about developing a personal sense of worth not following the crowd like a sheep.

I always watch the video and avoid comments at first incase of spoilers since the top comment is always the funniest line in the video and that just ruins it. And if I enjoyed it alot then you earned my comment aswell and a like to go with it.
