What is Your View on In-Video Watermarks and Thumbnails?

What is your video of watermarks, thumbnails, and other types of branding, that are displayed in videos.

I am not talking about the YouTube watermark feature. I am referring to logos constantly being displayed in one corner. I am referring to Twitter names being displayed at all times. I am referring to website URLs.

I am probably just going to display a lower third in the beginning of my video briefly. However, I can see the benefits of displaying things like website addresses and Twitter URLs at all times. Particularly as people have a habit of skipping ahead in videos.

What's your view on this kind of in-video branding?

I use a hard encoded logo simply because of the copycats out there. If somebody rips off my content I want it at least to be identifiable. Nevertheless I try to not make it bigger than necessary and add some transparency.
I am not a fan of urls that cover most of the screen though.

I use the logo I am currently using on YTtalk because it is my hometown hockey team. I do not use social media links in my videos, I post them in the description .

I have nothing against it personally, as long as it doesn't take away from the video I'm watching. If it does, I'm for sure going to click away.

Thanks for the feedback guys. @XXLRay makes a good point about stopping copycats.

If I am doing screencasts, I do not have to worry about something being stolen. However, a compilation clip could easily be uploaded by someone else and claimed as their own.

I would just comment often and save up for a VIP membership. That way you can put videos in your signature also.
