What is a Branding?

Hey guys I was wondering people are always talking about branding being important but I don't understand what it means. I always hear it but it doesn't make sense to me whenever people use that word. Thank you to the people who reply.

I think it's a name for your subscribers, for example...
Roman Atwood calls his viewers "Roman Soldiers".
I could be wrong though.

Well having a brand means that you have a logo and a name or a mark that people will know you for. It's something that you use to get your content out there and for others to identify who you are. It's like people will immediately know what that is when they see your brand. For example, my logo and name is a part of my branding. People know me for the stylings of my name and for the logo that I use for my avatars, music albums, etc. To better get a brand out there, not only in videos, but people use their brands in merchandise, like stickers, shirts, hoodies, etc. Another example is that I have my own stickers and wristbands that have my branding on them. This is what people generally mean.

Branding in Youtube terms is the process involved in creating a unique name(Brand) and image for your channel in the viewers mind, mainly through keeping a constant theme i.e. thumbnails, logo's, channel art and profile pictures.
Branding aims to establish a significant and different presence in the Youtube market (Makes yourself unique) to retain subscribers and viewers.
 
Lol Its basic! giving your channel a unique feel from your banner and logo, to your intros and outros. Its also coming up with catchphrases and naming your community that subscribes to you something cool and catchy. Its a way to market yourself and make your subscribers feel like they are apart of something and to make them keep coming back.

If you have a banner and logo that are all mismatched from say, templates you got off the internet, then it just does not feel the same. Personally if I go to a channel and they dont have say, basic thumnails or some nice gfx then I dont even watch there content, If someone is not willing to put the time into things like that then how good could their content possible be?
