Well, I make commentated gaming videos. They are fun yes, but wow do they require work...
My motto is "Quality > Content"
I have a strong belief in making great videos that people will enjoy. Motivation is a key factor of course but what makes the video enjoyable is the fun interesting parts. Who want's to see someone walking around in circles for a good 10 minutes? Not me.
Recording software:
The recording software is crucial if we want to succeed in making great content. I use Mirillis Action to record my videos. Great quality, easy to use and BEST OF ALL... Light weight video files. I found that Fraps -A heavyweight video recorder that leaves 2gb per 5 minutes- can really make recording time consuming when it came to editing and rendering. Other game and general YouTube channels alike will agree that we don't want to wait 6 hours to upload a 10 minute video, ESPECIALLY if you are in a low internet speed country like Australia where I am.
Editing software:
This is probably the most important part for every YouTube uploader. A top quality video editor leads to good quality videos, if you have the time of course. Now, expensive software like Sony Vegas may not be necessary. I use Adobe Premier Pro CS6. I find that this is the backbone of my videos personally. Rendering the entire project withing a click, adding sound effects for days, cutting, slicing, stitching together a master piece is all in a days work with the power of an industry standard video editor. However, where does this lead you if you don't own a copy of the latest video editor? Well, as essential as a top quality video editor is, I don't see how that could stop anyone from producing good content with something as limited as Windows Movie Maker with a little patients.
In conclusion, the gear you are equip with will ultimately decide how much effort you have to put in and how far you can reach out to get fantastic results. I claim to be no expert, nor famous YouTube star but as a fellow viewer like the majority who knows what he wants in the content he views to look like.
Thank you for taking time to read this ramble.![smug :smug: :smug:](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/new/smug.png)
