So I recently started monetizing videos and I noticed there are overlay, skippable and non-skippable ad formats. My question is what type of format do use permit in your video and does skippable ads reduce your views?

Not really. If I want to watch something, I can wait 5 seconds for the ad to go to skip. I can't say that I have clicked out of a video before it started... Now 5 seconds of bad audio in the video, that will make me click out. lol

Skippable ads typically don't reduce views because like brantman said you can skip them after 5 seconds. Non-skippable ads is where the problems lays. I personally have those enabled though.

I have never turned on non skippable adverts so I cannot speak from proper experience but you need to weigh up the pros and cons of having them enabled, you could lose views on the video from people clicking away when they need to wait 30 seconds and your audience might not like it to where they leave but on the other hand some of them will stay expecting a really good video, I know personally when I see a video with a 30 second advert I have high expectations of the video but if it doesnt deliver after that I am out right away. For me I wouldnt bother unless I had a massive audience and I am talking a good couple of million and even then I would likely only do it on some exceptional videos.

My upload defaults are to have overlay video ads and skippable video ads because you can skip them after 5 seconds and I don't mind it much when other people have it. I wouldn't use non-skippable because then people might leave or incline people to use adblock more.
