what editing is there for gaming videos

So i do gaming videos. Currently focusing on gta v pc.
there are alot of threads saying learning to edit videos properly really gives you that productiob quality. but what is there to really edit in a gameplay video . im going to include a banner what pops in the bottom of the screen for example "hit that like button" . But apart from that what else is theyre to really do?
i use sony vegas and have been doing for some time.
 
I think they mean good transitions, good sound quality (mic and in game sound), good graphic effects and intros, maybe some funny title slates and stuff!
 
Depends what you're trying to do with your videos. Is it LP style in that its a 15+ min long vid where people just watch you play and commentate. Is it a cut com where you talk about something while playing a game, where basically the commentary is the focus rather than the gameplay. Or there's like mini compilation Highlight/ lowlight videos.

I do a lot of letsplays, and I try to add in a few edits here in there in the form of graphics. Usually they emphasis what I am saying if I say something silly or whatever.

I would give an example but the site prevents me to. If you want to see one though any one of my newer videos after Bioshock have at least one edit in them.
 
The biggest bit of advice I could give in don't drag scenes out instead make it to the point quickly but also so the audience will understand how it came to be.
 
Just experiment! You will start to get your own style you are comfortable with. And when that happens, EXPERIMENT SOME MORE! It is all about learning new things and trying stuff out.
 
Adding some funny stuff is always good for gaming videos, unless You don't want to distract ppl from the gameplay. But most important are snappy transitions and leaving out the boring stuff.
