What does Twitter really do for Youtubers?

Twitter ain't no way to get attention. It's just for people to interact with others. I just follow fellow youtubers which I admire and like and reply on their posts so I got some interaction going with fellow youtube mates :)
I'm not using it too much for promotion, people can just check out my twitter if they feel like seeing what goes on in my mind! :D

I use Twitter to interact with other YouTubers and bloggers. I have found it's the best for conversations, but the greatest at actually getting views. I always tweet out a link to my new video when I upload, and I tweet the picture of my thumbnail, and I have found that the hashtag "SmallTuber" can be helpful! They usually retweet the tweet, and it gets me a couple of extra views which is cool! Twitter definitely isn't my main source of advertisement for my channel, but it is a part of it nonetheless.
I'll have to try that hashtag... the secret is out now ;)

I haven't found Twitter to be very helpful for promoting (although I haven't put much effort into promotion on there), but have found it very useful as a place to interact with my viewers and other YouTubers. And if someone doesn't have a YT account but wants to know when you post a new video, they might follow you on Twitter instead.

I think it's all about the platform people prefer.... some like twitter, other Instagram, and others refuse to get off of Facebook, so you gotta reach out to them on their preferred platform and post where they are going to watch it

I have it set up if people ever want to use it to contact me, but it's one of those things where you have to have a "well-developed" twitter account long before you start your YT channel for it to be any worth toward YT.

Or the opposite I guess, if you're already really well-known on YT it could help.

But yeah, for people trying to find new ways to promote, don't start a new twitter for that purpose IMO. Will be a time sink that is likely to accomplish nothing.
