What are YouTube Networks & Partnerships?

Hi Guys!

I was doing some research in to Youtube as a creator. I've been working hard and my channel has been growing well organically over the 2 months I've been running it.

However, I really want to start pushing it and making the most of it.

That's when I came across Freedom which I believe is a Youtube Partnership. I read the reviews of this and it's dreadful. Much are the other services that seem to have been reviewed here.

What I really want to know is what are these services and why do people use them?

Thanks!

(I tried Googling + YT this stuff but crappy content came back :()

A big reason that people use them is because many of the networks are very aggressive in marketing and target YouTubers who are new, looking to get more subscribers, and aren't yet aware of the ins and outs of networks. When someone has like 200-300 subscribers and they get a message from a network rep telling them that they really like their content and think they'd be perfect for their network - the first thing people automatically think is "This is my chance to get big!".

They sign up, get hooked into a several year contract, and by the time they've grown to a stage where they know better than to sign with a network, they're already stuck with the contract for another couple of years.

That's not to say there's never a case when a network might be useful. Some of them have great tools that make the share of ad revenue they take worth it to some people - but the vast majority of people signed with networks are people who simply didn't research much into it and immediately jumped into it after getting an offer.

So basically I shouldn't go with one? :)

I've moved your thread to the monetization forum.. Have a browse of the other threads in this section, in particular some of the stickies. there's loads of advice about this. :)
