What are the benefits of joining a network?

Hello people,

I'm thinking to join a network, but I've heard a lot, like really a lot of stories about these networks, that Machinima stuff with that Ross guy, that's kind of 'evil', if I can say so. Anyway, can anybody please tell me what are the benefits of joining a network? Do they help you with getting subsribers or no? Actually, if you can please reply anything you know about these network, because it's not that easy to get the point of these.

I don't think joining a network is really beneficial for small youtubers, too many networks out there, most of them end up scamming. Maybe when you get bigger, you'll have proper chances with bigger networks. And, machinima is evil.

I'm not sure why people say not to join a network if you're a small channel, it's not as though they do anything more or different for larger channels.

In short, networks offer some free music, a better dashboard and tools for YouTube, and another (possible) layer of protection between you and Adsense if you run into copyright issues.

Absolutely no reason to join one if you're a small youtuber. The only reason i'm with one is because it makes me immune from content id scans (i have a managed partner channel), it grants me the ability to use content id to monetize reuploads of my videos, and i never have to deal with any copyright issues or send any proof to youtube to monetize anything. Because of this the % split i have to give up is worth it for the protection (and if i'm able to become managed somehow without an MCN i'd dump the network instantly). If the network isn't offering you a managed channel then the revenue split is absolutely worthless hit wise as they will do nothing to help you and instead just take a cut. There is 0 reason to be an affiliate channel, go managed or go solo youtube adsense.

It all depends on what you're looking for. Also depends if you understand copyright and the contracts, etc... Networks now are quite strict due to new policies from YouTube. Near enough every case I've seen with people that haven't been paid and saying the network is a scam has copyrighted materiel.

If you're a small channel, in my opinion go with Adsense (sign up via features page). If you want to go with a network, look for networks with a good dashboard (ask for a demo or ask for screenshots.) Also, look for a no lockin contract. Also, look for a network with revenue share over 70%. There's many out there.

Networks used to, of course, hold more value to themselves years ago (e.g - Channel Branding etc.) - they were at one point very prestigious. Now a days, YouTube has either altered, made public, or removed most of the features left that a network used to have. When you think of a network, think of it like you are hiring them to provide you with a service and some type of value (such as Tim from VideoCreatorsTV puts it, and I like his explanation of it). You'll be paying them a percentage of your monthly earnings in return for that "value".

In my opinion, Google AdSense is for people who can manage themselves, and do everything on their own. No third parties involved. If you feel confident you can do this alone, and don't need the entire "package" that the network is offering - go for AdSense. It's very simple.

For a network, usually they will offer some type of free/or discounted access to Epoxy, Epidemic Sound/AudioMirco, TubeBuddy, and other various "tools". Also, do not expect the network to magically wave a wand and get you more subscribers/views, and when they say: "We will help you grow your channel" - they usually mean they will provide you with guides, tools, or advice, and you will be the one who ultimately does the heavy lifting - not the network. There are also minor features such as Low Payout Thresholds, PayPal payments, and support that networks can offer better over AdSense.

You have to weigh the features that the network will be offering you, and see if it is worth the percentage of revenue they will be taking.

However, as I said if you do not need the entire package that the network is offering you, and can get certain things offered on your own - simply go with AdSense.

there is no reason to join any network, if you have your own content stay with adsense, it's very better.
