Videos converting to 4:3 after uploading?

After uploading any video, the aspect ratio is converted to 4:3... why?

I've heard of some other people experiencing this exact thing. I think it's just a bug. Upload it again maybe?

Put yt:stretch=16:9 in the tags. Next time try a different type like mp4. For some reason it doesn't like WMV.

What's the resolution you are uploading in specifically?

I've uploaded it at least 10 times in different formats and qualities. Absolutely any video at all.

Yes but can you give me numbers? What resolution? I'm just curious

That's odd. I upload with WMV and all my videos are perfectly 16:9.

I wouldn't do the yt stretch 16:9 unless the video was recorded and edited in a 16:9 resolution. If it was recorded in say a lower resolution, if you were to forcefully stretch and expand the video, it could make it blurrier, it could make it squished, etc.

I uploaded a WMV file that was recorded and edited in 16:9 but somehow youtube put it in 4:3 format. By using that in the tags everything is back to normal. Not only do those videos have 1080p but they have an Original to choose from.

I've never had that issue.
