Video Tags

So, I heard that when you tag a video, if you want a phrase to be tagged as one whole thing, you need to use quotation marks.

Like this:

"Super Mario" instead of Super Mario

They say this because if you don't use quotation marks, the tags get separated, so instead of tagging it as Super Mario, it would be tagged as Super, Mario

Is this true?

Because when I try to tag a video with "whatever" the tag just ends up being whatever, without the quotation marks anyway.

when you tag on normal vids the tag boxes are separated by commas if you see two words in one box then they are linked as a phrase. Only in places where your tags are separated by spaces, like show tags or channel tags need to have quotation marks

I have never heard of this before. When ever I tag my videos, I would just write Super Mario, the only time it gets separated is when you put a "," after it like Super Mario, then the next thing you type becomes a new tag.

Okay, thank you I always have been doing it right with the video tags, I just got confused by something I saw on Reddit.

yeah i think they changed the way you tag somewhat recently, they actually changed the upload page again like a week or two ago but all i think they did this time was make it a tiny bit more efficient

Sometimes I don't like it when things get updated so quickly, but I guess it helps! I just wish you could get notified of each and every little change!

You can, it's called the youtube partner forum, or helpcenter, or something like that I don't know but there's a place where you can keep track of it

Whenever you read something about YouTube that's a year old chances that it isn't up to date anymore are pretty much higher than it still being relevant...
