Video Games From the Past to Review

BossKnight

I've Got It
Hello. I am currently trying to plan out the next 3 or so video game reviews that I will do to increase productivity. I had one simple question to ask, what games did you love or hate from your past?

My character The Classic Nerd has this character trait of reminding people that most old games kind of trump new games and he also slaps people back to reality by reminding people of how bad some of these nostalgic "gems" really were. He is very opinionated, and I kind of may have made him ADD on accident. I express when and why a game fails to keep me on board with the plot or the story, whether it be bad writing, bad controls, bad music, bad game feel or just bad game mechanics or over used and dated cliches that take players out of the game, i.e, cut scenes you can't skip and god help you if you are a game developer and place a save point BEFORE a cut scene you can't skip. Trust me, 9/10 I don't care about the cut scene unless the game is awesome but if the game is flawed with this poor excuse of narcissistic form of "Look at me! I am a great story teller! And look at these poorly rendered models! Look at me! I am awesome!" then I have no other response than to loathe you and want to destroy my copy of the game.

Wow, went a little side tracked there. I did say Classic Nerd was opinionated! So I turn to you and ask, what game needs to be brought back to the public eye? What game did not get enough praise? What game got too much hype and didn't live up? What video game do you want to see reviewed by The Classic Nerd?

FYI, I own damn near every console from the 1990's, but to clarify I own:
NES
SNES
N64
PlayStation
PS2
PS3
Xbox One
Gameboy Original, Gameboy Pocket, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance (As well as the Super Gameboy SNES peripheral so I can play any Pre-Advance Gameboy game on the SNES for better quality footage)
Nintendo DS and 3DS,
and lastly the Sega Dreamcast.

I'm also getting a Genesis and maybe Saturn soon, so that'll almost complete the Sega lineage. Have yet to find a working Master System though.

You name the game, and I'll worry about the rest. Side note, if you have the game and feel like donating to a good cause, I do take game donations. Already have had several PS2 and PS1 games donated to my YouTube purposes. You do not have to send a game, though. Don't worry, I will find a way to review the game.

Thank you, and BossKnight out!

I may do a Resident Evil VS Silent Hill video thing. Like review one, then have some sort of skit where Silent Hill keeps creeping into the video everytime I say something like "scariest game ever" or maybe just make it seem like there is an weird presence in the house and end the video with me finding out I have been haunted by Silent Hill. That way I can review Resident Evil and have a reason to review Silent Hill.

I don't know how I'd do Pokemon. I'd want to poke fun at current gen Pokemon but focus on the original 150. I guess the easiest to review would be Tomb Raider because it is the shortest game out of what you listed.

Thanks for the suggestions. Anyone else have some ideas?

Crash 1 has been eluding me. I've been searching for months and can't find any copy of the game. Spyro would be fun, but again it has also been eluding me. I love the idea though. I remember first playing Crash Bandicoot when I was younger.

I loved how Crash came out 2 months after Super Mario 64, and even though Super Mario 64 was open world and Crash was more of a running game, I always liked how Crash played rather than how Super Mario 64 played.

And even though everyone in the PlayStation fanboy community claims PlayStation never had a mascot, I'd love to remind everyone of all of those awesome Crash Bandicoot commercials for PlayStation. As far as I can remember Crash was one of the very very very few actual video game characters to promote the console, while other times Sony opt'ed to go with the "let's have a weird little alien girl telepathically force people to love the PS1" or "babies aren't scary? Tell the marketing team to find a way to make babies terrifying and have one of our consoles in the same room as the demon hell spawn, people will understand the message and flock to the stores!" OK, OK, they also had Sweet Tooth doing some commericials and one or two Spyro commercials. My point is that Crash dominated the marketing campaign as far as having a game character host the commercial, which would mean PlayStation 1 had a main mascot at least. I said I was a nerd, right?

So far you guys have been giving some nice suggestions. I have some ideas flowing. Anyone else want to contribute?
