Video Game Review Channel Help

Hey guys,

I'm very new to YouTube and actually just created my YouTube Channel today, where I review video games in 60 seconds!

For those of you with more experience than I, what is some advice that you could give me that perhaps you wish you had when you first started out?

Also, for those of you who also have video game channels, what are some tips to getting more views and subscribers?

Thanks so much for the help, guys!

Just moving this to the Script, Script Writing, Video Ideas & Planning section of the forum for you :)

I may not have experience with reviewing, but I do have an idea for your videos. What if you made everything more fast paced, that way you can fit more content into it? Just start the review right away instead of having an intro, end the video with an outro. Just seems kind of weird that you're 60 seconds with 2 minute videos xD

I actually messed around with the format quite a bit while creating the video, and also looked at some other "60 second" YouTube videos, but something about just starting and ending feels very strange to me, and I feel like it doesn't really get the full point across. It may even just come from the fact that I've been taught the "beginning, middle, end" way of writing (or recording) since elementary school, so it feels strange to just have a "middle". Haha.

Although I will admit that it is strange for me to say "60 second review" and then my video is 2:10 long. And while I want my video's to be short, I feel like 60 seconds is almost too short, and I feel like a slight recap is necessary or else people may not fully understand what just happened.

Certainly not trying to take anything away from your advice though, as you have a very valid point. XD As time passes by I'm sure my structure will change as I grow, and I will certainly take this into account! Thanks for the input![DOUBLEPOST=1400898816,1400898780][/DOUBLEPOST]

Thanks much! I wasn't quite sure where to post this, and I apparently chose wrong. XD

Check out Lore. They're a great channel that do short recaps of a games lore, maybe they'll give you some ideas.

I would check out ProJared's One Minute Reviews. He does an excellent job at making them and more often than not he finishes the review within the minute rather than exceed the minute by a few seconds. Definitely look at his work. He can make it both comedic and informative. Really depends on what he thinks of the game.

Never heard of them but I'll be sure to check them out! Thanks for the tip![DOUBLEPOST=1400904574,1400904532][/DOUBLEPOST]

I've seen some Pro Jared, but didn't even realize he had 1 minute reviews! I will definitely be taking a look at this! Thanks much for the info!

I dig it I hit that sub button, they are nice concise and professional. If you'd like a little critique, when you do these videos I would suggest fast talking and use edits to eliminate silence (not like the commercial thing but you get my drift right?) it's clear you do have a script so this will allow a little bit more in your script. I also think it'd be funny just to write a little bit more than you think you have time for, that way at the end you're rushing those last few seconds before the final score.

idk just some ideas, take it or leave it. I do dig the channel though and I get the feeling it will do pretty well in the grand scheme of things

Thanks for the advice and the sub and I'm glad you liked them!

I'll definitely take your advice into account as my format is far from absolute. I'm hoping that with the constructive criticism of everyone I can make this show the best that it can be and I am really happy with all the support the community has given me. =)

Thanks again for the support and advice!
