Video Editing for the Tube

I just uploaded a new video ("KG-UV6 Commander") to my channel. I am doing a screen capture program and that program seems to do a great job. The video turns out great. However, I bring it into Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11.0 and Export it as an mp4. Once the file has been exported and uploaded to YouTube, it doesn't seem as clear and crisp. I am guessing this is YouTubes doing because I play the mp4 file locally and it looks great. Is there anything I can do to prevent the video looking so blah after it's uploaded?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Is it significantly bad? like worse than your normal YouTube video? Cause otherwise YouTube's normal compression takes a hit to pretty much every video unfortunately

My guess is that its YouTubes compression. It is still good enough to make everything out on the screen, its just significantly worse than the mp4 on my computer. There may not be much I can do in regards to screen capture videos (maybe try other programs?) but in regards to camera shot videos, is the way to get around that, to shoot much higher resolutions and clearer videos?
